April 2016 IPS Eastern Branch Meeting
Guest Speaker: Gillian Travis
Gillian is an award winning textile artist based in a small village in the North of England and has a studio near her home that she has developed to accommodate creative textiles courses. Gillian love teaching and passing on my skills, ideas and enthusiasm to students of all ages. She travels extensively for pleasure and teaching, and makes regular trips to India, Most of the textiles she makes are inspired by her travels. She take lots of photographs and later use them to design and develop into quilts.
Gillian's work is colourful and contemporary, I specialise in paint, print, felt and machine stitch, and always use natural fabrics. She has been participating in the Quilters Guild Contemporary Quilt Group Journal Quilt Challenge since 2007 and is also a member of several International Quilt Groups. Gillian describes her work as happy and cheerful and she hope it makes you smile! Gillian will also be teaching 2 workshops with our branch. More details about Gillian can be found on her website.
