Seasons in the Park Exhibition Opening

Big thank you to everybody who submitted the quilts, put together the display and came to the opening with their family and friends!

Eastern Branch’s exhibition is held every two years and is a wonderful opportunity for all the members to showcase their talent. We value the variety of techniques and interpretations of the theme and are really proud to present this sample of our work to the world. The venue, a large stone-walled room in Phoenix Park visitor centre, provided the perfect background for the beautiful textile textures and so the quilts are shown to their best advantage. Two exhibition tables host the postcards from the Vote Centenary Challenge and some bits and pieces that relate to patchwork.

The exhibition opening was very well attended, it was particularly lovely to see our members bring their family along to look at all the wonderful quilts and have a scone while they are at it, too. Everybody could have a chat, examine the intricacies of technique and discuss their inspiration for the work.

The exhibition was opened by Margaret McGuirk, Head guide at the OPW, who welcomed the IPS, told us about the various events in the Phoenix park and complemented the exhibitors on way they interpreted the Park and its wildlife. It was a real treat to have her with us on the day. She said the Visitor Centre has already had a lot of great feedback from the people who saw the exhibition.

The exhibition is open till the 13th of February (Wednesday to Sunday), so if you missed the opening you still have a lot of time to visit and, please, share the news.

There are some pictures from the opening on the Gallery page, but the close-ups of the quilts are coming later.
